Infrastructure Improvement 2021 - 2026, $20 million
In 2021, the National Science Foundation (NSF) awarded $20 million in EPSCoR Research Infrastructure Improvement (RII) Track-1 funding to a Nebraska collaboration focused on Emergent Quantum Materials and Technologies (EQUATE). This team--including University of Nebraska-Lincoln, University of Nebraska at Omaha, University of Nebraska at Kearney, Creighton University, and two community colleges--is pursuing five years of research on quantum properties of materials. Their work aims to advance information processing, medical applications, and other benefits. Via NSF’s Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR), this project (OIA-2044049) also includes outreach activities to engage youth in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) learning experiences and careers.
